Settling In Part 2
The School of Discipleship students have settled into their roles in the office. Last time we took a look at how Tiffany, Matthew, and Agatha were fitting into their roles here at Gospel for Asia. Today we will see how the remaining three are adapting to their positions.
Kate has been serving in the Donor Services department. An important thing that Kate has learned is patience. Through spending all day inside and learning to use a computer has been one way that she has learned this. An aspect of her responsibilities that has given her delight is participating in yard maintenance every Monday afternoon. She also really enjoys the relationships she is developing with her co-workers. The work that she does, she understands, is a vital link between sponsors and the field.
River has been placed in the Fulfillment Department. Here he helps manage the warehouse which includes making sure all the books, brochures, DVDs, CDs, and other products are in stock. He maintains the mailroom which involves sending out all of Gospel for Asia Canada’s mail and ensuring that orders go to the right place at the right time. Serving in this capacity, he has learned the necessity of doing his utmost in even the smallest details. This position has kept him busy, which he enjoys as well as the amount of responsibility that is required of him including people being dependent upon him. Through what he does, people are enabled to give toward the cause of reaching the unreached, and the purpose of Gospel for Asia is advanced. Through his role he has grown in love for and satisfaction in God alone.
Serving in the Volunteer Department, Lisa is the assistant to the Volunteer Coordinator. She has various roles, including entering orders, helping to serve our local volunteers, and representing Gospel for Asia at conferences. The Volunteer Coordinator also has her performing some administrative duties, among which she files and organises volunteer contact information. Her primary role, however, is to accomplish the follow up procedures for those that have ordered a Veil of Tears movie. With this, she has the great opportunity to phone people all over Canada. One of the most important things she has learned in this capacity is to do everything unto the Lord. This way of doing things has changed her perspective on her role. Additionally, she has been challenged to use her time wisely and set goals. Blessed by the love and patience of the staff in her department, she has found it a pleasure to serve with them. It excites her that all the work that she does behind the scenes here enables our brothers and sisters on the field to share the love of Christ.
If these students’ lives have challenged or impacted you, why not act upon it? Many opportunities are available to further God’s kingdom. Get involved today.
