School of Discipleship in 2015
With 2015 nearly over, it means that many things are coming to an end. However, there are many new things about to begin in the New Year, too! Gospel for Asia’s School of Discipleship is one of those things that has its conclusion in December. Graduation will occur on December 18th of this year. A new class will be coming in January which we are excitedly waiting for. However, in the meantime let us take a look at what God has done in the lives of the students this year.
Shortly after arriving in January, the whole first year class headed off to Edmonton to attend the Break Forth conference. They were able to take in some of the sessions as well as distribute some literature in preparation for a Gospel for Asia speaker. As the year progressed, the students were able to participate in yard work here at the office. They also had plenty of opportunities to serve other ministries and churches through their service projects.
Through the course of the year, the students have been instructed both through regular units as well as from some of the local churches’ pastors. These classes have taught the students the Core Values of Gospel for Asia, leaving all to pursue Christ, living through the power of Grace, and many more subjects that will aid in forming the nature of Christ in them.
There has also been plenty of time for some fun activities. At the end of July the students went off for a weekend of camping on lake Erie. On a Saturday in August they headed north of Toronto to the Horseshoe Valley for a day of swinging through the trees at a place called Treetop Trekking. Treetop Trekking is an obstacle course that is built into trees suspended from the ground. They also all got to experience the thrill of a zip line there. This fall they and some of the staff travelled to the countryside to visit a corn maze. They had an enjoyable time exploring the maze and solving a riddle to win a prize.
Through all their activities and classes they have grown in maturity and knowing Christ. As they look to the future and what God has for them, please remember them in prayer. Please also pray for them as they wrap up their studies and prepare for graduation.
