SD Class of 2015
About a month ago the School of Discipleship class of 2015 arrived with five new students: Agatha, Kate, Tiffany, Matthew, and River. A week later, Lisa, a student from last year, returned to be the Canadian inaugural class of School of Discipleship year two.
The first weekend the students were taken on a spiritual emphasis weekend at a conference centre in Guelph to launch their orientation. They received teaching on identity in Christ, spending time with God, keeping short accounts with other students and staff. The weekend concluded with partaking of communion with all the staff. Having returned to Stoney Creek their orientation continued with more classes, prayer meetings, plenty of homework, evangelism training and they were assigned their ministry placements.
They also have had some time of relaxation. They have enjoyed meals with all of the staff, taken a trip to Niagara Falls, and played games with some of the staff. They also were able to take a trip to Edmonton to receive teaching from and to meet with K.P Yohannan. The annual Break Forth conference had invited him as one of their opening day speakers. The students were able to distribute 420 books (Revolution in World Missions) to conference attendees on the Friday night. On Valentine’s Day, students and SD staff babysat staff family children so that their parents could have a special time together.
The students have been settling into their new homes, schedules, and roles fairly well. Please continue to pray for them. Although it’s already been one month, they still have much to learn, do, and grow. Please also pray for their house mentors and SD coordinators and the rest of the GFA staff as they lead these five young people throughout this coming year.
