International Day for Street Children
Today is the International Day for Street Children. Even though there may not be a lot of street children here in North America, we can’t ignore the global reality: there are tens of millions of children all over the world who are living on the streets because of neglect, abuse, poverty, or abandonment. In India alone, there are 18 million street children, and an estimated 11 million children are separated from their families. Tens of thousands of baby girls are abandoned by their parents each year.
Growing up on the streets is no life for a child, and these kids desperately need hope. You can partner with us to rescue these children, starting with one little boy or girl at a time! Sponsor a child through Bridge of Hope, our children’s outreach. Visit gfa.ca/sponsorachild to learn more.
And Gospel for Asia is also actively reaching out to orphaned and abandoned children on the streets of South Asia! We have a home for abandoned and runaway children; and our staff members there reach out with Jesus’ love, offering protection and a safe haven. You can learn more about our ministry to abandoned children at gfa.ca/ministries/abandoned-children.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27
